How Much Does a Brake Job Cost in Phoenix? (2026 Prices)

Here is what a brake job costs in Phoenix in 2026 when I do it: the labor, the parts, the trip, and a real example with every line added up.

What I charge

  • Labor is $125 an hour, priced by the standard repair time for your vehicle. The quote is the price, even if the job takes me longer.
  • Front or rear pads: from $150 labor per axle (1.2 hours), plus the pads.
  • Both axles in one visit: 2.2 hours, so $275 labor instead of $300.
  • Parts are priced at the store’s regular retail price and listed one by one on your quote. Arizona sales tax (9.1%) applies to parts only.
  • One trip fee per visit: $45 within 20 miles of our north Phoenix base, then $2 a mile.
  • No shop-supply, disposal or environmental fees.

An example: front pads, 29 miles away. That is $150 labor, a $63 trip fee ($45 plus 9 miles at $2), the pads, and tax on the pads. Nothing else. The full breakdown is on the pricing page.

Why the price varies

The biggest variables are the parts (economy vs ceramic pads), whether the rotors are resurfaced or replaced, and the labor. We quote the exact number in writing before we turn a single bolt.

Pads only, or pads and rotors?

Pads wear out first. Rotors wear too, and a scored rotor face or a pedal that pulses when you stop means they need attention along with the pads. I check all four corners and tell you which you need, and why, before you approve anything. If the rotors are fine, you don’t pay for rotors.

Don’t forget the brake fluid

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air, and water boils at a far lower temperature than brake fluid. A fresh DOT 4 fluid boils at 446°F dry, but only 311°F once it has absorbed about 3.7% water. In Phoenix heat, old fluid is closer to boiling, and boiling fluid means a spongy pedal and fade. Honda calls for new brake fluid every 3 years; Toyota roughly every 2 years or 20,000 to 30,000 miles. More on that in Phoenix heat and your car.

Signs you should not wait

  • Squealing or grinding when you slow down
  • A pedal that sinks, pulses, or feels soft
  • The car pulling to one side under braking
  • Visible scoring on the rotor face
  • Brake warning light or low fluid

Grinding usually means the pads are worn to the metal and are cutting into the rotors with every stop. Park it and call. A pad job costs less than a pad-and-rotor job.

Done in your driveway

I do the job where the car is sitting: your driveway, your office lot, anywhere within 60 miles of Phoenix. Most pad-and-rotor jobs take 60 to 90 minutes per axle. Every job includes a free four-corner brake inspection, you know which parts I am using (OEM or a premium equivalent) before you approve the quote, and the work is covered for 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first.
